I have over 12 years of experience working with dogs, including more than 8 years in rescue, and 4 years as a professional trainer. I have also lived with and owned dogs for my entire life - 30 years and counting! My deep dive into the dog rescue and training world began when I adopted a dog who quickly began exhibiting severe behavioral issues that I was not prepared for and was initially unsure how to address. After working with several trainers, I ultimately found methods that actually worked for us, sparking my passion for helping dogs facing similar challenges. Before I started my career in training, I dedicated significant time to learning all I could about dog behavior and learning theory, researching many different training methodologies and techniques, learning from experienced trainers, volunteering and fostering with rescue organizations, and working in boarding/training facilities. All of which further helped me develop my knowledge, handling skills, training techniques, and overall skill set for working with dogs. Since transitioning to professional dog training, I am continuously expanding my knowledge and expertise, with a focus on prioritizing a personalized approach for each human and dog. I take pride in creating customized training plans tailored to the unique needs of both the owner and their dog, rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all solution. Owning a dog who has struggled with significant behavior challenges has given me a unique perspective on what it takes to live and work with 'hard' dogs. I started Inherently Good Dogs because I wanted to help owners and their dogs live their best lives by becoming the best versions of themselves.
I understand that every dog and their relationship with their human is unique, and that is why I do not offer a 'one size fits all' style of training. Because there really is no one way that works for every dog and human. My goal is to provide personalized training that focuses on strengthening the relationship between owner/fosters and their dogs so they can help them become the best version of themselves.
I work with all dogs and all behaviors, but specialize in modifying behavior in dogs with more serious behavioral issues, including but not limited to: human aggression, dog aggression, reactivity, dogs with bite histories, separation anxiety, resource guarding, and extreme fear.
